Calculating Availability

Machine availability is measured by dividing the actual machine uptime by the planned, or expected machine uptime.

• Machine availability can be calculated by shift, day, week, or month
• Shift schedules are defined as static, but can be variable in the future
• Any downtime can be classified as ‘Planned’
• Planned downtimes do not count toward ‘Planned uptime’
